Please join the Hamilton Area Chamber of Commerce for the Annual Buttahatchee River Fall Fest in downtown Hamilton, Alabama, on and around the Court Square, which features arts and crafts, food, live music, classic cars and motorcycles, and general vendors. This family-friendly event offers free admission and fun for the whole family.
The arts and crafts portion of the festival features a great variety of items such as hand-made traditional folk pottery, gourd art, birdhouses, ironworks, glass, handmade jewelry, and more.
The Classic Automobile section features antique and classic cars and donates the profits to a local charity providing clothes and toys to needy local children. The Motorcycle ride this year is sponsored by Hoof or Paw, a local non-profit no-kill facility that houses strays and rescues, providing them with vaccinations, spays/neuters, needed medical care, and a good bill of health from a licensed veterinarian, and places them up for adoption by the public.
The Buttahatchee River Fall Fest is named after the Buttahatchee River which zigzags its way through Hamilton on its way to the Tombigbee River over in Mississippi. On the banks of the Buttahatchee, just south of Hamilton, are a set of three Chickasaw Indian mounds. Near the Indian mounds, “Military Road” crosses the Buttahatchee. The road was carved out by the army of General Andrew Jackson as a short cut between New Orleans and Nashville.
Our history and heritage around the Buttahatchee River, along with our downtown area, local merchants as well as vendors and artists from across the Southeast help to make our festival unique in our area.
